How Much is Too Much Shampoo?

shampooYou know what people say: Everything when done in excess is bad (or something like that) that remains true at the time we go to shampoo our hair. Do you really know how much shampoo you need to clean your hair properly? Well, that’s certainly something we don’t learn at school!

Using too much shampoo will not get your hair cleaner. In fact, it has its downsides. You can either end up with your hair behaving differently form expected or you can strip it away completely form its essential oils.

How to avoid that? How much is enough? Well, there’s a simple rule: If you have somewhat long hair, put an amount on your hand equivalent to a quarter of your palm. And if you have short hair, make it an octave of your palm. From that starting point you can either add A LITTLE until you find the perfect amount. But most cases it isn’t needed.

I know it’s something most men don’t think about. But once you internalize it, you won’t need to think about it anymore, and rest assured you are using the right amount of shampoo.

How to Minimize Hair Damage

How to Minimize Hair DamageHair damage will get to you sooner or later. Like all parts of our bodies it is exposed to the conditions of the environment like the sun, dust, and humidity. To put it simply: you can’t escape hair damage. BUT! You can learn to minimize it by following simple tips:

  • If you spend too much time under the sun, we recommend that you wear a hat. A hat will block those harmful rays.
  • Don’t abuse hair styling products. As you may know most of these contain chemical ingredients that in the long term can provoke hair damage. In any case, prefer natural formulated products.
  • Avoid colouring your hair, or if you do it, have a professional stylist make it. This will ensure minimum damage is done to the hair.
  • Use a conditioner every two days. A conditioner will revitalize your hair and leave it soft but washing your hair a lot can also lead to hair damage because you don’t allow it to recover essential oils.
  • Dry your hair by patting it with a towel – don’t rub it. And once your hair is drier, let it dry completely natural. Blow dryers can in fact damage your hair if you don’t really know what you are doing.

Well there you have, some simple tips you can start using today to give a better life to your hair. Of course you can always go to a specialized salon to get a revitalizing treatment!
